St. Petersburg train stations
St. Petersburg has 5 major train stations. Moskovsky Vokzal (Vokzal means station in Russian), Vitebsky Vokzal, Ladozhsky Vokzal, Finlandsky Vokzal and Baltisky Vokzal. The first 3 all handle long-distance passenger traffic as well as local, electric train services (called "electrichky"). The last 2 stations only offer local service to outlying suburbs. Stations have foreign currency exchange booths and ATM machines.
Moskovsky Vokzal is the main long-distance railroad station in the city and is located right on Nevsky Prospect, in the center of the city. All major trains to Moscow leave and arrive here. The station also services the far north, the Crimea, Central Asia and the Caucasus. Metro Ploshad Vosstaniya/Mayakovskaya is located right in the station so transport is very easy.
